Perfect Professions For Picking Women Up

November 24, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

If you think selling mantel clocks and Howard Miller clocks will endear you to chicks, think again. A career in sales is not one of those jobs that can help you get you the girls. In a city overflowing with testosterone, a salesman is a small fish - or to be more apt, a decorative wall clock - in the dating pool. So if selling Howard Miller clocks is not the best job for picking up women, what job is? Here is a quick round-up.

1. Lawyer
Confidence, money, smooth-talking skills - the lawyer has it all. Behind closed doors, he can sink his teeth into his vulnerable client of choice. Even better, he gets paid for his services - legal or illegal.

2. Fashion photographer
Austin Powers was a dud but he was also two things that chicks dig - a fashion photographer and a secret agent. A photographer is always around beautiful women while they go in and out of their clothing. What better time to strike up a conversation and maybe, establish a connection?

3. Serviceman
Whether her problem is the cable, a clogged sink, a loose door, or a magic unicorn, she’s calling you so you can give her a fix. Show up at her door between 2pm and 5pm. They call you serviceman because you’re a man who provides servicing, git?

4. Hairdresser
Before you go “No way, that is so gay!”, think about it. The man with the scissors is everything women want in a guy - he listens, he’s sensitive, he makes her look pretty, and he can send chills down her spine with a gentle touch to her scalp. And because most hairdressers are homo, a straight hairdresser is all the more desirable. You’re nice, you’re sensitive, you know her by the roots, and best of all, you’re one in a kind - literally. So forget about selling Howard Miller clocks. If you’re a hairdresser, women will fall in line for a piece of you.

5. Politician
Power is an aphrodisiac to a woman. Plus, campaigning is pretty much an equivalent of speed-dating. You get introduced to thousands of women - and all of them look up to you. When you’re a politician, it’s female buffet every day.

These jobs are not listed in any particular order. So, if you’re planning your career path right now, leave the politicking for last. Sure, you get introduced to lots of women but you also get to know critics and opponents who will only be too happy to eat you for breakfast.

Ready To Work From Home A Try?

November 24, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

You’re tired. You think the cubicle is an evil contraption that twists the spine and destroys your capacity to feel joy. You begin to think that maybe you could work from home and do freelancing. You write well enough so maybe you could turn yourself into a pen-for-hire and spend your day writing about Zippo lighters. If that does not work out, there is always eBay. You know for a fact many buyers are on the look-out for a personalized Zippo. That’s a business opportunity right there - you could become an entrepreneur and sell military zippo lighters.

But wait just a New York minute! Give that resignation more thought. It’s not easy to find work in the Big Apple - are you sure you want to give up yours? Before you resign, why not take the time to weigh the advantages and disadvantages?

Advantage: You can work in your pajamas.
Drawback: You lose all your fashion sense - which is not much to begin with.

Advantage: You don’t have to put your hair up or wear makeup.
Drawback: You are more likely to suffer a coronary each time you glimpse that wild-haired person in the mirror.

Advantage: You can economize on fuel because you only need to commute from your bedroom to your computer.
Drawback: Days pass before you discover the car battery is deader than a doornail. And of course, you had to find this out on the one day you have a meeting you can’t afford to miss.

Advantage: You do not have to clean your desk.
Drawback: Nobody will clean your desk either.

Advantage: You can go on vacation any day you want.
Drawback: There’s no one to fill in for you while you go on vacation, so you’re left with only two options: you shut your business for the time being or you do not go on vacation.

Advantage: You can talk as loud as you want.
Drawback: You have no one to chat with so you talk to your flowers. The neighbor hears you, decides you’re loony, and tells the whole neighborhood.

Advantage: There is no need to call in sick.
Drawback: You cannot call in sick.

Now you know - working from home has both pros and cons. Do you still want to be a writer or make a living auctioning military Zippo lighters? Your career, your call.

Quick German Learning Tips

As mentioned earlier, learning a new language is not always easy and thus interest and determination is required. For beginners, it is always wise to start with the preliminary stages.

This could involve translating simple texts. In addition other information like your name, the name of the place you live and such like basic information is a perfect starting point to learn German or any other language.

Five Gift Ideas For Your Child’s Favorite Teacher

November 17, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

Finally Winter is over and Spring has arrived in the Great Plains and with the new season comes all the mini graduations as my child finishes another year of school. And I am reminded when I view all my child’s achievements that I should thank the people who have been so involved with their achievement - their teachers.

My kid’s teachers are a lot like me. They are trying their best to balance the demands of their job with their personal life. If I’m going to show my appreciation for all their labor with my children what would be better than to acknowledge their efforts and labor over this past year with presents?

It seems to me that if I wanted to really show my gratitude I could do something to makes their lives a lot a bit less complicated. The options are go on and on. For example, there is a traditional gift certificate to a restaurant or I could purchase a spring cleaning package from a house cleaning service. Why for the teacher who really adores their car, a full car detail package from one of those fancy car wash places would be a gift that they might not have ever received before but be a big hit.

If a certificate seems might be a bit dull, then bag that idea - literally. Go beyond a briefcase (too stuffy for most teachers) consider personalized spa gifts instead. Tote bags can range from simple to elegant and most have plenty of room to help any teacher get their goods to and from the classroom. And when embroidered with their name or monogram, they also make great travel carry-ons.

If a bag is too big then think small and technical. Perhaps you’d like to consider a gift of electronics or at least some accessory. Cases for their ipod or cell phone can be invaluable. But maybe you don’t know if they carry those things or what type of cell phone they have. Consider some other modestly priced item for the classroom that if a teacher wanted they’d have to pay for themselves because school budgets are really tight these days.

When you are busy balancing your life between both home and a job, stress becomes part of your everyday life. I know I’m always looking for a quiet moment to relax personally. Your child’s teacher is no different. What about personalized tote bags? A massage or makeup make over might be something that really makes them smile (not to mention relax). Of course there are some other options that fit smaller budgets such as home kits that do the same thing. A relaxing mask or soothingly scented bath salts are great ideas.

We owe teachers so much and they ask for so little. The next time you decide to get them a teacher’s gift, show them they are worth so much more than a card or some candy and make their day.

Learning Disabilities

November 14, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

Behavioral Interventions come in all different types to address different needs. Whether your child is autistic, overweight, sexually deviant or always in the principal’s office, you can find intervention strategies to assist your family. Community services designed to provide brief intervention or long-term crisis care will ensure that your child has a normal development, despite what may have happened in the past. Start fresh today with an intervention program!

Often, children who need a behavioral intervention suffer from ADHD, autism, dyslexia or another pervasive developmental disorder. An early intervention program is the key to helping the child overcome natural difficulties and find studying techniques that work. The public school system generally only focuses on one particular learning mode, which leaves many students feeling “stupid” or frustrated. By teaching the student more about their learning needs and focusing on self-empowerment, as well as skill development, the students will begin to learn their way at their own pace and will develop a renewed interest in school. A behavioral intervention can do more than just prevent anger or hyperactive outbursts in school. It can pave the way for your child’s future and instill a sense of pride and accomplishment.

Does your child need help? Individualized Learning Plan ILP Support

However, a behavioral intervention can also help stop more serious patterns of behavior by attacking the mental framework that drives the individual to act out. For example, behavioral interventions may be used to reduce sexually transmitted diseases in teens. A recent intervention study showed that teens benefited from interventions aimed at reducing the risk of STDs. “In a previous randomized controlled trial, we found that the ‘Sexual Awareness For Everyone’ behavioral intervention significantly reduced the rate of recurrent gonorrhea and chlamydia infections among reproductive-age Mexican-American and African-American women,” wrote Andrea Ries Thurman, MD, from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio. The five modifiable behaviors the group focused on were: unprotected sex with untreated partners, lack of monogamy, sex without condoms, partner turnover more than once every three months and douching after intercourse.

Evidence suggests that pre-natal behavioral interventions can be extremely helpful for pregnant women who smoke, drink, suffer from depression, or are victims of intimate partner violence. These risks can cause developmental disorders with your baby and may also lead to post-partum depression for the mothers. These intervention programs are ultimately very successful, with 90% of participants reporting a significant difference in their situation, according to one 2008 intervention study.

Learn German Online - Secret To Learning German Online

November 13, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

German is a tough language to learn and for many students, it’s even more difficult trying to master it in a live class situation offline. But did you know you can easily learn German online and the benefits include learning at your own pace.

Language learning is a delicate issue for many and being able to get hold of materials which you can go back to as you learn regularly is a big advantage. However, in a class full of students, this is not the case or luxury people have.

Many students feel rushed in a live class situation and quite often fail to complete a full course. Many would not dare suggest the teacher is going to fast so they look for other alternatives. Let’s look at some of the benefits for taking German online.

Benefits Of Learning The German Language Online

Learning German online means you can progress at your own speed. No one is keeping track of how long it takes you. You can take as long as you’d like on each lesson. You don’t have to keep up with the rest of the class, and you can re-take any sections you’d like, for extra practice or to understand the concepts better.

Or maybe you “got it” in class, but need more to reinforce the concepts you just learned. You can supplement your learning German online with additional exercises or games, often catered specifically to the section you are on. Learn about colors in the lesson? Try the practice exercises about colors. Play a game using the names of the colors to be sure you really “got it.” Much more fun and exciting than practically meaningless homework, where you learn by rote, exercises online and games can make learning more fun and long term.

Expense Benefits of Online German

Learning German in a collage setting costs money. Whether or not you are taking other classes to help share the costs (if you have a parking permit but take more than just German on campus, your parking permit costs less per class), there are many fees associated with taking German in a classroom setting. There are class fees, parking permits, health fees, textbook costs, and sometimes a fee for the syllabus!

Not to mention the cost of gas to go to and from class, and the hassle of attending! None of it is inexpensive. Instead, you can learn the German language online, where every class is free and on your schedule. There are many resources you can tap into as a registered student on some sites (also still free); other sites don’t even require a registration to be able to use their fun resources. Everything from games and quizzes to online dictionaries and grammar reinforcers – available online for free!

Rosetta Spanish Software, Random Thoughts

November 11, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

French,why should you learn it?

rosetta french level

Learning Spanish has become quite controversial, mainly because of the large number of Spanish speaking immigrant who are entering the U.S. illegally. (that we know of) in recent year it has jumped drastically. Some think illegal immigration would get worse if Americans learn to speak Spanish. The common belief is that if they were forced to learn to speak English to survive in society the immigration issue would rapidly evaporate on its own.

The simple fact of the matter is that Americans are extremely arrogant when it comes to their language. That English is very much a universal language has caused them to go into a slow descent into complacency. Nearly every other nation around the globe demands that its youth learn in school to speak (at the very least) English and their native language; you actually would discover, if you visited a European grade school, that the students there spend a lot of time learning to perfect their own language and to speak the languages of the countries that border them.

rosetta french level

In order to interact with neighbors, both at home and abroad, anyone studying in France also learned to speak both French and English along with knowing the fundamentals of Italian, German and Spanish, ensuring their being able to fit into the workforce.

Americans haven’t had to do this because almost every foreign country teaches English to its students. It is not difficult to find someone who speaks English anywhere you go in a foreign country. In essence, learning your neighbors’ language is a practice that has been dispensed with. By rights Americans should learn to speak both French and Spanish, in order to give them a leg up on doing business with their closest neighbors, Mexico and Canada; however, this has been spurned in the arrogant belief that anyone wishing to have any interaction, whether it be for financial or personal gain, in the United States must learn to speak English in order to do so, as English is the language of America.

Until just a few years ago, US citizens didn’t even think of the United States as having an “official” language. The United States is a blend of peoples, and its first settlers traveled here speaking every tongue from every corner of the globe. Indeed, in many areas of the U.S., this is more than obvious.

The second language of Louisiana is considered to be French, likewise in the South West and Florida Spanish is the other offical language. Throughout much of the mid-west, textbooks were printed in the German language until World War II, when a national disgust with anything German, on the heels of Hitler’s siege of terror, caused these textbooks to be reprinted in English, while the German language gradually was pushed away into oblivion.

rosetta italian

In view of the diversity of languages in the United States’ history, it is difficult to fathom where their aversion to the Spanish language’s presence stems from.

Help For Children With Special Education Needs And Help For Their Family

November 04, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

Students with Learning Disabilities who have difficulty with certain tasks often feel frustrated and stupid. These feelings can lead to a low self-esteem. If children are teased and taunted by their peers, these feelings can be worsened. Although parents may be relieved by the understanding that a learning disability diagnosis can bring, children with learning disabilities may be afraid of the diagnosis and become even more isolated. There is also the possibility that the child may begin to use the diagnosis as a crutch to excuse behavior problems and poor performance.

Parents and teachers must remain sensitive to the needs and feelings of children with Learning Disorders. The possibility of sending learning disabled children to special learning disability schools does exist, and for extremely sensitive children or those with a severe learning disability this may be the best option. However, learning disability schools carry their own stigma and are generally not appropriate for mildly learning disabled children. Most often, mainstreaming is the best choice for children with learning disabilities that are mild or moderate in severity.

The question of how best to treat a learning disability is not easily answered. Usually the answer is as individual as the student is. Assistive technology products may be helpful in allowing the child to work around the learning disability. High-tech solutions such as optical character readers and voice-activated calculators can be expensive but worthwhile as learning disabled children advance in school. For smaller children, low-tech assistive technology products will often suffice. Assistive technology products should not, however, be considered the be-all end-all solution for students with learning disabilities.

Remediation is often the treatment of choice for students with learning disabilities. Methodical teaching processes can gradually re-train the brain to some extent, as well as teaching the student strategies to use to work around the learning disability. An individual treatment plan should be developed with input from the teacher, student, parents, and school psychologist or other expert.

Adults must keep in mind that children with learning disabilities will eventually become adults with learning disabilities. Teaching students with learning disabilities to advocate for themselves will give them the maximum chance at successful and productive adult lives. The younger a child is when beginning to manage the learning disability, the easier the transition to adult life will be.

Parents and teachers should remember that children with learning disabilities are not slow. Usually the IQ of a learning disabled child is at or above normal, and some are extremely intelligent. When remediating the learning disability it is important to continue to challenge the child intellectually. Intellectual stimulation can be the catalyst that sparks a learning disabled child to continue working through the disability.

Parents and teachers must remain sensitive to the unique emotional needs of children with learning disabilities. These children often suffer from low self-esteem and may be taunted by their classmates. It is the responsibility of the adults in their lives to provide positive coping techniques and a sense of empowerment to the child. Allow the child to take the lead in managing his/her own learning disability as much as possible.

Switching Your College Major: Strategies To Modifying Your Educational Concentration

November 01, 2008 By: blogger Category: Education No Comments →

There comes a time for many college students when they find themselves dissatisfied with their primary course of study. Though they were very sure about it upon initially selecting their college option and major, later they determined it might not be the best path.

Before losing all enthusiasm for studies, people in this situation should consider changing their major. Having previously declared a college major, this is not a decision that should be made lightly, and therefore merits thoughtful evaluation of core issues.

* Is it really your major that is the problem?

The college experience can be stressful for even the best students. Turmoil with relationships and friends, in addition to a new level of academic expectations, can cause many problems, especially for freshman.

Before considering a change of your major, examine every aspect of your new life carefully and be sure you are making a switch is the right thing. Consult an advisor at your college; they are often trained and willing to talk about more than only academics.

Consider whether there are just a few classes giving you trouble, not the entire major. Lastly, allow a bit more time to go by, just to make sure your decision is firm.

* Select a new major carefully.

When changing your major, try to avoid whatever it was that made you determined to drop the last one. Unless you are absolutely certain, don’t pick a new major that is completely different from your last one or from the areas of study that you know well.

Weigh the pros and cons of each major, and remember that college is supposed to prepare you for a career. Can you see yourself doing this for decades or even the rest of your life?

* Verify you can meet the requirements and finish on time.

Several majors have varying requirements and prerequisites that you may not be able to satisfy. Sometimes you must fill an application, much like your original college application, to enter a new major.

Your grades will almost definitely be a factor here, so don’t let your current grades slip just because you are thinking about changing since they still impact your GPA.

Also, shifting your major may extend the time you need to complete your college career. If a new major has several required classes that don’t include most of those you have already completed, then you may need to take a couple extra semesters to catch up. If you need to do so, make sure you can afford the extra college time and expense, or even investigate an online college option.

College is a significant time of learning and change. Few students truly come in knowing exactly what they want, and it is your right as a student to change your mind. As long as you take careful consideration and make good decisions, your change of majors will likely turn out to be for the better.
